Back to school...

My girls started back to school on Wednesday so we have been working on getting back to the school routine. They both absolutely love it. However, I would have liked to have had them home a bit longer. The summer seemed to fly by. There were things that I wanted to do with them but never got around to doing.
Tonight we are going to pile in the bed and watch High School Musical II and tomorrow it is pajama day. I think we all need a pajama day!

I have not had much time for crafting as I have been doing all the normal things to get the girls ready for school. I did make a set of coasters and a pot holder using my favorite fabric of all time!

I also put the majority of my shop on sale. I have tons of summer things I am clearing out as I am getting ready for fall! I am also offering free shipping if you purchase 3 or more items.

Well I better run. Friday is usually housecleaning day for me and I want to get it all done so I can enjoy my movie night and pajama day tomorrow.

Vacationing & Gardening

Wowza! It has been a while since I posted. I have been a very busy girl. I think I mentioned in my last post that we were getting ready to go to Oklahoma. We had a great time! We got lots of thrifting in and did some school shopping. I was also able to hit Oklahoma Quiltworks. What a wonderful store! It has wonderful bolts of fabric from one end of the store to the other! I told my husband last time I went that I about started hyperventilating when I go in there because it is that exciting! I used some control and only bought about 5 yards.

We were only home a day when it was time to leave again! We spent three nights on the Frio River and had a wonderful time. We usually try and go once a year with my husband's family. It was extra special this year as I had my dad there along with two of my nieces. My sister also came and stayed one night. We have been getting so much rain that the river was perfect for floating.

When we got home from the Frio, I had to get in my garden. I have not really taken very good care of it this year as we have had so much rain and we have been gone quite a bit. I spent two hours out there and oh how I enjoyed it. My girls entertained themselves the whole time so it was kind of a thinking time for me. As I sat pulling weeds and getting vegetables, I started to compare myself to the garden. Yeah, I know I am kind of weird but the thoughts came.
As I looked around at the weeds and the garden's unkept status, I thought of the gray hairs that are so visible in the front of my head, my hair that has not been cut in over a year, and my wardrobe that needs updating. I also realized that the garden was just a bit too big for our family. It reminded me of my own size. While I am not huge, I do have about 10-15 pounds I need to drop. You know those pounds that linger on after you have a baby. The pounds you rationalize in your head that it is okay because you had a baby. Well folks my baby is 6. I guess I need to do something about it!
Anyways, I got tons of fresh veggies and with the help of my oldest daughter, we put them to good use.

We chopped tomatoes and added some bellpepper and spices and made some really good tomato sauce. It was used for our stuffed bellpeppers.

Man, were these good!

Everything came from the garden with the exception of the onions which I need to plant next year.

Before I go I did get some exciting news this week. A few of my items were featured on a wonderful site. Check it out at: http://www.hostessblog.com

Gotta get moving as I am hosting a baby shower for one of my nieces tomorrow and there is still lots to be done.

Time flies..

Time flies when you are..........
I guess that should say when you are having fun! When I started this blog, I told myself I was going to post everyday even if no one was reading it. Well, I have not been very sucessful have I?? I guess I will have to try harder.
Not alot going on here. I got my niece home on Friday and had planned to do a craft show on Saturday and Sunday. Well guess what? It rained yet once again! It worked out okay though as I got away with my sweet husband for the night. My dad was in town so he watched the girls for the night.
We are leaving for Oklahoma tomorrow morning. The girls and I are tagging along on a business trip and we are all so excited about it. We are going to Oklahoma City and they have wonderful thrift stores there! We are gonna do a little shopping and lots of swimming for the girls. We come home on Saturday and are off again the following Monday. We are going down to the Frio River for a few days. That is if it doesn't flood with all the rain we are suppose to get!

I was able to squeeze in a bit of crafting the last few days.

I can't get enough of that bird fabric! I am almost out so I need to hunt down some more. I actually made a couple more aprons but haven't taken pictures yet.
I don't think I mentioned it yet but I love to wear aprons! I am working really hard on bringing the apron back! It is hard to explain but they just make me feel good when I wear them. More motherly maybe? Better cook and housewife? Back to a simpler time? Not sure but I just know I love wearing them whether they are new or old.

How things change..

I mentioned a couple of days ago that I picked my niece up a few days ago. She is just a few months older than my daughter and they get along very well. We had her last year during the summer as well. It is funny how two girls can change so much within a matter of a year. Last year they were content to hang out in the cheap pool we picked up at Family Dollar. They were happy to build forts out on the property and stay out there for hours. They were content to just hang out. Well, my how things have changed! They are now more interested in how they look, what they are wearing, and the next place they get to go. They really need to go back to how they were last year. They seem to be growing up too fast and they need to stop! They are such sweet girls and both very smart. It makes me a bit sad to see them growing up and kind of scary. I have an older son and he lives on his own now and the mistakes were high when we were raising him. It dawned on me several months ago that we have never raised a daughter to this age. Does that make sense? Is it going to be hard or easy? Is she going to do some of the things I did? Make the same mistakes? What choices will she make? Like I said, kind of scary! I believe in prayer so I have been doing lots of praying in that area!
We are getting out of the house today so they are thrilled about that! Although the little angels will still be asleep for along time as they stayed up half the night!

I have been getting to do a bit of sewing in the last few days. I made these pot holders for a sweet customer who wanted some funky and kind of different pot holders.

And of course more things for sweet baby.

I have been getting tons of tomatoes from the garden so I am off to make some tomato sauce.

Someone needs a pedicure!

Let me start off by saying that I started to not even post what I am going to post. I thought it would gross my two readers out and they wouldn't come back and one of them is my mother! But then I got to thinking and just decided to keep it real!
I mentioned yesterday that I picked up my niece yesterday. Well she and my oldest daughter decided to give my youngest a makeover. They fixed her hair and put makeup on her. She looked so cute and you could tell she was so proud of herself! Of course I had to snap a few pictures to capture the moment. As I was doing so, I glanced down at her feet and about died! It is kind of hard to tell from the picture but the girl definitely needs to have a pedicure! Can you see the dirt under her toenails and there is even a bit between her toes? Bless her little heart! I did not say a word and just kept taking pictures. I did however insist it was shower time after the photo shoot!
She is my little country girl though and can be found outside most days so I guess it is only fitting that she have a bit of dirt between her toes.

We went to church tonight so I am planning on getting up early and finish up a few projects I have been working on. I have a couple of pot holders to finish up for a sweet customer and then a sweet shabby outfit for baby!

Cucumbers anyone??

Check out my haul from my garden. I think I am going to have to look into making some pickles or something! I also have tons of tomatoes.
Yesterday, I cut up about 8 tomatoes and added some grated bell pepper and onion along with some seasonings and made some homemade tomato sauce. I then poured it over some chicken breast strips I had browned and simmered it for about an hour. Can you say yum! We ate it over rice and it was so good. Something about those fresh veggies.

I missed a few days of blogging as I have been super busy. My girls and I went to my moms on Tuesday for the night. We got up early Wednesday and hit a few thrift stores as well as one wonderful quilt store. We had a wonderful time. On Thursday I met a very sweet friend and her daughters at a tea room. I am not a big hot tea drinker but really enjoyed the tea I had and even had to bring some home!

Today, I met my sister and picked up one of her sweet daughters for a few days. She is a few months older than my oldest daughter and they have a blast together. Of course my youngest is right there with them.

I have been able to get in a little sewing the last few days. I am loving this cute bird fabric by Alexander Henry. I have it in every color it comes in!

Tomorrow I am heading to a nearby town. A very nice lady contacted me. She found some of my things I sew online and thought I might be interested in putting some things in her store. You pay a monthly booth fee and a small percentage of your sales so I am going to check it out. I would love to find something like that.

More rain....

Well, I tried to post something yesterday but for some reason, I couldn't get get anything to come up on my title?? Not sure what the problem was.
Anyways, we had more rain here yesterday! Ugh! I am so tired of the rain. We live out in the country and we had what appeared to be a small flowing river going down the side of our house. It was flowing into our pond and then overflowing on the other side going over our gravel road! The rain about washed our road out about a week ago. The rain needs to go away for a while!

Anyways, moving on to other things. We took our girls to see Ratatoulli on Friday. It was a cute movie! A tad long for me but we did enjoy it.

I got a bit more sewing done in the last day or two. Yep, you guessed it, more things for sweet baby! I have realized that I am leaving the boys out and have been on the hunt for some cute boy fabric.

Well, it is about time for me to get my bunch up for church.

Fourth of July Fun

We had a nice but quiet day yesterday. We went to see Evan Almighty which we all thought was cute. It was one of those movies that really had me thinking when we walked out. I had planned on making a really nice dinner since it was a holiday and all. We stopped at the grocery store on the way home from the movie. After much discussion about what we would have, we ended up with frozen eggrolls??? How the heck did that happen? I wanted to do a nice meal but must admit I did not give much of an arguement with the thought of throwing those frozen babies in the oven! How easy! They were very good!

We have a 80% chance of rain again tomorrow! I am sick of the rain! We have seven goats right now and I heard one of them really yelping this morning. We she had got her head stuck between some branches. My daughter and I had to tromp out in the yucky mud to rescue her! It was pretty scary but she is doing fine.

I have been able to get a bit of sewing done the last day or two. Some more baby things! Sometimes I plan on sewing other things but when I get in my sewing room, the baby mood takes over and I am off.

So excited...

I am so excited! I got a comment on my post from yesterday. Thanks so much to my poster! It made my day.
Not alot going on around here today. It rained again! My youngest had a playdate today with a little friend down the road so I finally finished up this sweet set. I love the colors.

I am not sure why I enjoy sewing baby things so much. I guess because my baby days are over!

My sweet husband is off for the next five days so we are all excited about that. We are going to see Evan Almighty tomorrow. Two of our big firework shows got cancelled for tomorrow night because of this yucky weather.

Well I guess I will sign off for tonight.

A peek into my sewing room...

I mentioned yesterday that I had recently reorganized and cleaned my sewing room. I snapped a few pictures today. I figured if I did that, it may help me keep it cleaner because sometimes it gets really bad!

Yep, I know the pink shelf does not match. I've been meaning to paint it but haven't gotten around to it yet.

The last two pictures are some things I have been working on today. Can you tell I love that fabric! I think I am keeping the apron for myself.
I don't think I mentioned in my first post but I am an apron wearing fool and am trying really hard to bring the apron back.

I hear my kids yelling so I better run.

Howdy!

Well, I am finally doing it! I have been meaning to start a blog for a long time so here I am! I am mama to three and wife to one! I live in the great state of Texas and have for all my life with the exception of a short move to Missouri for six months. I love to sew and do anything crafty really. I also love to work outside and just spend time with my family. I am a full-time mom and haven't worked outside the home in about 7 years. I am also a fabric hoarder. I have more fabric than I could possibly ever use but I still keep buyig! I especially love vintage fabric as well as patterns. I hoard those also. I actually reorganized and cleaned my sewing room this weekend. I will have to snap a few pictures and post.
One of my highlights for the week was finally learning how to cover a button. Okay, don't laugh. I don't know why I thought it would be so hard to cover a button. It took me about 10 second to get it done. Ugh!
I have been a busy beaver of late and getting tons of things sewn. Below are a few pics. You can also find them here

As you can tell I sew a different variety of things. Depending on my mood depends on what I sew for the day!
