Sweet husbands..

Good morning all! It has been a crazy few days but wanted to make a quick post.
I am working on my fat quarter giveaway and should have details in the next day or two.
I did want to take a moment to talk about sweet husbands. I had tons of work to get done yesterday and part of that work included taking pictures. I had gotten some new fabric in and I also needed to get some pictures to a customer. I had been using my daughter's camera she got for Christmas as mine had died. Well after searching and tearing up the house, I realized my daughter had probably taken the camera to school to show pictures of our new baby goats.
My husband happened to call about the time I realized I had no camera for the day! I was acting like a total baby. Well guess what?? He surprised me with my very own camera! It is nicer than any camera I have ever had before and I am so excited and thankful! After 16 years of marriage the man is still surprising me and making each day wonderful.
I have not really had time to mess around with the camera but below are a couple of shots I took yesterday.

Another quick thought about fat quarters and the giveaway I am going to do.
I challenged myself to see what all I could make out of a fat quarter. I have made a pin cushion, travel tissue holder, headband, flower pin, pony tail holder, and a button magnet . I still have a bit of fabric left!
I will post pictures once I finish up all the fabric.
Have a super day and thanks for reading.

Hello once again...

Well I have not posted since August so I thought it was about time that I got back into it. I really have no excuse and I think I will leave it at that.
Lets see, I guess it would be nice if I did some updating!
We have all been so busy! We added chickens to our household this year and they are doing wonderfully! I never thought it would so much fun to just sit and watch chickens. We can't wait for the fresh eggs.
My husband asked me the other day when we would make our money back on the cost of the chickens, pen, etc. I had to explain that it would probably be never as it is about the experience. I think he got it.

Our garden is doing great as well. We tried something new this year as I usually have more weeds than veggies. We covered it with black plastic and just cut holes where we needed things planted. I can't wait for the veggies!

This next picture actually needs to be updated as I took it a couple of days ago. We have recently lost three of our goats to coyotes. We have been putting them in a pen at night to keep them safe. Well, when I went to let them out yesterday morning, I got a bit of a surprise or should I say a double surprise! We had twin baby girl goats! It scared me so bad as I thought they had not made it. One was flat on her stomach with her feet out beside her and the other was sleeping but I did not know that at the time. The one with her feet out beside her could not walk and was pretty weak. I grabbed her and brought her inside to get her warm and give her some vitamins. I tried to give her a bottle but she would not take it. I freaked out and took her to the vet. He gave her a shot and a bottle filled with good stuff and I am happy to report she is doing great. She is still weak in the legs but is growing stronger. We are going to keep her in the house until she is doing better but we are sure hoping her mama will take to her and let her nurse. She has to be fed every few hours and that is not fun!
I almost forgot to mention our other addition! Ruby is our new donkey. She is the prettiest thing! We are trying to get her a bit tamer so we can give her the proper loving she deserves!

Probably one of the biggest things going on is my decision to expand my fabric business. I started the end of August last year with just a few bolts but it is growing! Below is just a small amount of fabric I have recently received in. I am having a ball! I have real issues with fabric and this is a way to be around it all the time! I am getting ready to have a fat quarter challenge and giveaway so please check back. Details will be coming in the next day or so.

You can see my fabric at: www.sewgoodfabric.com.
I just got in tons from Amy Butler, Alexander Henry, and Heather Bailey.

In addition to my fabric store, I have been busy with my sewing store as well! Although I have not been able to spend as much time on it as I would like.
Here are a few things I currently have available:

Well I guess that is about it for now. To sum up to the last few months I would have to say there was some happiness, sadness, tough decisions made, thing were let go that needed letting go, choices about the future were made, and tons of other things. I guess that is life huh?
I have a goat that needs feeding so I better run.
Remember to check back for the fat quarter challenge and giveaway.
Thanks for reading and more tomorrow....

Back to school...

My girls started back to school on Wednesday so we have been working on getting back to the school routine. They both absolutely love it. However, I would have liked to have had them home a bit longer. The summer seemed to fly by. There were things that I wanted to do with them but never got around to doing.
Tonight we are going to pile in the bed and watch High School Musical II and tomorrow it is pajama day. I think we all need a pajama day!

I have not had much time for crafting as I have been doing all the normal things to get the girls ready for school. I did make a set of coasters and a pot holder using my favorite fabric of all time!

I also put the majority of my shop on sale. I have tons of summer things I am clearing out as I am getting ready for fall! I am also offering free shipping if you purchase 3 or more items.

Well I better run. Friday is usually housecleaning day for me and I want to get it all done so I can enjoy my movie night and pajama day tomorrow.

More tomorrow...

Vacationing & Gardening

Wowza! It has been a while since I posted. I have been a very busy girl. I think I mentioned in my last post that we were getting ready to go to Oklahoma. We had a great time! We got lots of thrifting in and did some school shopping. I was also able to hit Oklahoma Quiltworks. What a wonderful store! It has wonderful bolts of fabric from one end of the store to the other! I told my husband last time I went that I about started hyperventilating when I go in there because it is that exciting! I used some control and only bought about 5 yards.

We were only home a day when it was time to leave again! We spent three nights on the Frio River and had a wonderful time. We usually try and go once a year with my husband's family. It was extra special this year as I had my dad there along with two of my nieces. My sister also came and stayed one night. We have been getting so much rain that the river was perfect for floating.

When we got home from the Frio, I had to get in my garden. I have not really taken very good care of it this year as we have had so much rain and we have been gone quite a bit. I spent two hours out there and oh how I enjoyed it. My girls entertained themselves the whole time so it was kind of a thinking time for me. As I sat pulling weeds and getting vegetables, I started to compare myself to the garden. Yeah, I know I am kind of weird but the thoughts came.
As I looked around at the weeds and the garden's unkept status, I thought of the gray hairs that are so visible in the front of my head, my hair that has not been cut in over a year, and my wardrobe that needs updating. I also realized that the garden was just a bit too big for our family. It reminded me of my own size. While I am not huge, I do have about 10-15 pounds I need to drop. You know those pounds that linger on after you have a baby. The pounds you rationalize in your head that it is okay because you had a baby. Well folks my baby is 6. I guess I need to do something about it!
Anyways, I got tons of fresh veggies and with the help of my oldest daughter, we put them to good use.

We chopped tomatoes and added some bellpepper and spices and made some really good tomato sauce. It was used for our stuffed bellpeppers.

Man, were these good!

Everything came from the garden with the exception of the onions which I need to plant next year.

Before I go I did get some exciting news this week. A few of my items were featured on a wonderful site. Check it out at: http://www.hostessblog.com

Gotta get moving as I am hosting a baby shower for one of my nieces tomorrow and there is still lots to be done.

Time flies..

Time flies when you are..........
I guess that should say when you are having fun! When I started this blog, I told myself I was going to post everyday even if no one was reading it. Well, I have not been very sucessful have I?? I guess I will have to try harder.
Not alot going on here. I got my niece home on Friday and had planned to do a craft show on Saturday and Sunday. Well guess what? It rained yet once again! It worked out okay though as I got away with my sweet husband for the night. My dad was in town so he watched the girls for the night.
We are leaving for Oklahoma tomorrow morning. The girls and I are tagging along on a business trip and we are all so excited about it. We are going to Oklahoma City and they have wonderful thrift stores there! We are gonna do a little shopping and lots of swimming for the girls. We come home on Saturday and are off again the following Monday. We are going down to the Frio River for a few days. That is if it doesn't flood with all the rain we are suppose to get!

I was able to squeeze in a bit of crafting the last few days.

I can't get enough of that bird fabric! I am almost out so I need to hunt down some more. I actually made a couple more aprons but haven't taken pictures yet.
I don't think I mentioned it yet but I love to wear aprons! I am working really hard on bringing the apron back! It is hard to explain but they just make me feel good when I wear them. More motherly maybe? Better cook and housewife? Back to a simpler time? Not sure but I just know I love wearing them whether they are new or old.

More later....

How things change..

I mentioned a couple of days ago that I picked my niece up a few days ago. She is just a few months older than my daughter and they get along very well. We had her last year during the summer as well. It is funny how two girls can change so much within a matter of a year. Last year they were content to hang out in the cheap pool we picked up at Family Dollar. They were happy to build forts out on the property and stay out there for hours. They were content to just hang out. Well, my how things have changed! They are now more interested in how they look, what they are wearing, and the next place they get to go. They really need to go back to how they were last year. They seem to be growing up too fast and they need to stop! They are such sweet girls and both very smart. It makes me a bit sad to see them growing up and kind of scary. I have an older son and he lives on his own now and the mistakes were high when we were raising him. It dawned on me several months ago that we have never raised a daughter to this age. Does that make sense? Is it going to be hard or easy? Is she going to do some of the things I did? Make the same mistakes? What choices will she make? Like I said, kind of scary! I believe in prayer so I have been doing lots of praying in that area!
We are getting out of the house today so they are thrilled about that! Although the little angels will still be asleep for along time as they stayed up half the night!

I have been getting to do a bit of sewing in the last few days. I made these pot holders for a sweet customer who wanted some funky and kind of different pot holders.

And of course more things for sweet baby.

I have been getting tons of tomatoes from the garden so I am off to make some tomato sauce.
